"In the early days, our friends always called us “GRØNE Boys” or “GRØNE Brothers”. The name “GRØNE” is a nickname for Grönefeld. The name was also printed on Bart’s windsurf harness. It is written as GRØNE, with a slash in the O, which is more like a Norwegian or Scandinavian O rather than the Dutch way. The ø is pronounced as "eu" in the French word bleu."

For the next generation

“When we first thought of creating GRØNE, we wanted to get the younger generation into mechanical watches. We feel that mechanical watches - especially manual winding ones - really have a heart and a soul and we want to share that with the next generation. For us, this is like creating a baby. When our own babies - our children aged 16-20yo - came to see the Manueel One for the first time, they really loved it as well."

What we want to achieve with GRØNE

"With GRØNE we aim to create something that’s more accessible while pushing the boundaries of what the brand can achieve. First, we want to see the reaction of the people. I think most of them will be surprised. Through GRØNE, we hope to bring excitement and surprises to our customers and fans.”
